The Compact Navigation System offers an ideal alternative to an in-dash system, with an award-winning design that allows it to fit seamlessly into the car's dashboard. but if i'm out and about in my new city I live in and wanting to find a store or other landmark, nothing beats Google for simplicity and accuracy. The Honda SD Navigation System is an elegantly crafted but incredibly powerful piece of kit that offers all the essentials of modern driving convenience. ![]() I see myself using acura navigation for long trips where I'm going to a specific address. Google and Waze are still way better, but again, having my phone wire-connected to the usb, and how it doesn't fit in the cubby under the dash when it is plugged in, is very annoying to me. I got a 'deal' and only paid $100 for it. I don't know about the voice guidance - i never use it and just go by the visuals as i hate having my music or calls interrupted constantly. ![]() Guidance illustrations are slightly updated. Before, roads and neighborhoods in my area and others weren't showing up, whereas they are now. I see only minor changes - mostly related to showing newer roads, which actually is helpful with all the new development occuring in the metropolitan areas on the west coast. I had to leave the car running for over 45 minutes in my driveway. So if there was an update to the acura nav system that could at least approach Google's ease of use and real time updates I'd be inclined to spend the money to update. But here are my questions/concerns:ġ - Is the outdated nav map graphics updated? As it is, it looks like 2008 graphics, not 2018.Ģ - Does it have improved real-time traffic and automatic route adjustment to avoid traffic jams? That is a critical feature i use as i commute via the interstate in the city Google's system is so much better.ģ - Are the voice prompts more intuitive? I've gotten used to the acura voice system, but it's still not nearly as efficient and straightforward as good.Īny other reasons that i would spend the money on the nav update? I use Android Auto a lot, but my phone is too big to lay flat in the wireless charging area in the counsole with the cable attached, and the cable is annoying to deal with, even with a shorter cable, and I don't like how it clutters my center console. Have a 2018 TLX and got a coupon for discounted update for navigation system update.
